Biking through Vietnam mountain is a beautiful country that evokes strong images for many people who have never been there. The reasons behind this lie in a vision of Vietnam that is indelibly linked to war and one which suffers in the West from a legacy of conflict perpetuated by the Hollywood dream machine. Since the country has largely been cut off from the outside world of travel for decades, this image has prevailed, but if you follow the less well-trodden paths of Northwest Vietnam…

Day 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai - Sapa ( Meal: L, D)
Pick up at your hotel at 8:00  Am. Today we enjoy a city tour, seeing the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the mausoleum of the nation’s founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts. The complex also comprises the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of Hanoi. The next stop of our trip is the impressive Ethnologic Museum, dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minorities, some of which we will see in the forthcoming days. Have lunch before transfer to Sapa afternoon - for 5 hours on the new highway. Arrival checks in hotel and have a hotpot dinner at the local restaurant. O/N in Sapa.

Day 2: Sa Pa Cycling to villages ( Meal: B, L )
After having breakfast in the hotel, this morning we will cycle to Lao Chai and Ta Van villages and cycle uphill 12 km back to Sapa for lunch. Afternoon cycling and trek to Cat Cat and Sin Chai village of the Black H’Mong tribe. Enjoy the waterfall in Cat Cat and the beautiful scenery along the way. Back to the Hotel for dinner and enjoy the night in Sapa town. Explore dinner on your own. Overnight in hotel.

Day 3: Sa Pa – Lao Cai ( Meal: B, L, D)
A long but fantastic day biking, Cycling to Silver waterfall and cycling to Ban Khoang villages to the Lao Cai border with China, today mixing single-track paths and jeep tracks as we descend 2500 meters to the Chinese border and our hotel at Lao Cai.

Day 4: Lao Cai – Coc Ly - Bac Ha ( Meal: B, L, D)
Breakfast, Transfer and cycle to Coc Ly and to Ba Ha. Quiet lanes, cycling along the Chay River gorge, river banks single-track, and an alpine road climb, combine to make an epic day's ride to the village of Bac Ha.

Day 5: Bac Ha – Can Cau or Ban Pho villages ( Meal: B, L, D)
Staying for 2 nights in our hotel, we take a day ride to the colorful Can Cau tribal market. A tarmac ride is followed by a dirt and single-track route on the return. ( Can Cau is Saturday market, Bac Ha Sunday market ) .If not on time we still cycle to Ban Pho village and visit H, mong villages and trek around the valley to visit the King of Hmong palace )

Day 6: Bac Ha – Xi Man - Hoang Xu Phi  ( Meal: B, L, D)
Breakfast in the hotel and begin our ride directly from our hotel. Today we will bike across one of the most remote parts of northern Vietnam. At first, we tackle a steady climb of 6km on a good paved road but then turn into a short section of jeep track. After around 3-hr riding we will have a picnic lunch wherever we find good for that. After lunch, we continue riding to Xin Man, a small and busy town near the Chinese border. Xin Man is around 75 km from Bac Ha and biking in the afternoon is not less challenging than one in the morning. We will climb for the first hour or so up to a plateau at 2500m, where we have a fantastic view before hitting a roughly paved road for a steady descent into Hoang Xu Phi. During the biking, we will have regular stops for breaks, snacks and taking photos. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 7: Hoang Si Phu – Ha Giang ( Meal: B, L, D)
Today we take a gentle ride covering 50km from Hoang Xu Phi to Viet Quang Town. The ride takes us down to a bridge over the main river and for the next 40km, we ride along a quiet road that gently climbs and follows the river upstream to Hoang Shu Phi pass a quiet town at 1000m. Have a break in town for a snack and refreshment then continue with a downhill quiet road 60km to Viet Quang. We will have a late light lunch in Viet Quang Town then take a bus transfer to Ha Giang Town, the capital of Ha Giang Province which is the final frontier in northern Vietnam, a lunar landscape of limestone pinnacles and granite outcrops. Dinner and overnight in Ha Giang Town.

Time to explore the local markets of Ha Giang before our beautiful but easy ride to the remote village of Bac Me. Overnight local hostel.

Day 9: Bac Me – Ba Be Lake ( Meal: B, L, D)
An epic cross-country ride, following a succession of paths, connecting mountain villages that end at Dan Dang. Finish with a boat transfer to Ba Be National Park to visit the cave and waterfall before reach to  Home-stay in Bac Ngoi village.

Today is one of the most challenging days throughout the trip. Some skills are required on this road. Driving up to the top of the Binh Nguyen Pass with lunch en route. From the top, get on our bike again for going downhill and arrive in Cao Bang in the late afternoon. Dinner at “Lau” restaurant and overnight at a hotel in Cao Bang.

After breakfast, we are cycling through the most beautiful road up to Trung Khanh and Tra Linh towns with a visit to villages en route. to visit most of the beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam on the border with china. Dinner and overnight at the village in Ban Gioc Waterfall.

From the valley of Ban Gioc Waterfall, we follow the most beautiful route up to Dong Khe with stops at villages and for photos. Our driver is waiting for us at Dong Khe for driving to Lang Son with a stop at That Khe for lunch. Arrive at Lang, Son, in the late afternoon. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Lang Son.
